TVB stars reuniting on screen often bring a wave of nostalgia. But no one expected an unscripted emotional twist on the talk show Jin Wan Hao Xi Li (今晚好犀利) that features Hong Kong stars. During a segment where they had to draw questions from other colleagues, Myolie Wu, ended up with a question left behind by none other than her ex-boyfriend, Bosco Wong. Though she wasn’t actually there yet, the cast collectively gasped. Actress Nancy Wu laughed uncontrollably, Tavia Yeung asked, “Is it Wong..” Meanwhile, show host Ron Ng swooped in to the “rescue” by answering the question himself before Myolie even arrived.
Why the awkwardness surrounding Myolie Wu and Bosco Wong? It’s because this wasn’t just any ex. It was Bosco, her partner of eight years, from on-screen chemistry in 2005’s Wars of In-Laws to an off-screen relationship. However, they always insisted they were just “good friends.” In 2011, when Myolie won Best Actress at the TVB Anniversary Awards, her emotional shout-out to Bosco was widely seen as a public acknowledgment of their relationship. But just a year later in 2012, she surprised the public by announcing their breakup. Bosco reportedly tried to win her back to no avail. In 2015, she married businessman Philip Lee and eventually became a mother of three. Bosco, on the other hand, has remained single to this day.
Incidentally, in an earlier episode, Nancy Wu was on the phone about coming back for the next episode. She revealed she’d be back as a guest the same day Linda Chung was guesting. Bosco Wong who was the guest that time questioned why he’s not invited. Nancy then turned to him and said that Myolie Wu would be there, to which he laughed, “No wonder I’m not invited!” Despite the history, Bosco revealed in past interviews that he and Myolie are still on friendly terms.
