When Life Gives You Tangerines may have ended, but the memories from it are still resonating with viewers. This time, it’s for IU’s heartwarming gesture towards her co-star, 6-year-old child actress Shin Chae-rin, who played her daughter, Geum-Myeong (technically the younger version of IU’s character too).
IU surprised the young star with a special gift: a taiyaki (fish-shaped pastries) food truck on set. The 31-year-old singer-actress had written, “Everyone’s beloved Chae-rin, thank you for your hard work during this time – Mommy Ae Soon.” The gesture left Chae-rin’s mother deeply touched as IU kept it as a surprise till the final day of filming. She wrote, “What is this… You just want to make us cry. Given a lot of gifts. We’re very touched and said thank you every time, but the Taiyaki food truck was something we never expected. Speechless.”
When Life Gives You Tangerines is a drama that really touched viewers with its emotional depth and heartwarming moments. IU shines in this show, and it’s no surprise she’s dubbed the ratings queen. But I’m especially happy for Park Bo-gum. While he’s one of the most beloved actors in the Korean entertainment scene, he’s really been needing that one strong comeback, and this is it!
