“I want to be the queen of chicken feet!” It’s a new beginning for former TV actress Casper Chan. Earlier in the week, the Hong Kong actress announced on social media that she is setting up a new venture selling chicken feet. “In life, there’s nothing you can’t do. So after careful consideration, I decided to come and set up a stall!”
During her stint at TVB, Casper was given the moniker TVB’s royal maid. She appeared in many dramas such as On the First Beat, Best Bet, Legend of the Demigods and Can’t Buy Me Love just to name a few. Prior to that, Casper was a contestant in the Miss Hong Kong pageant in 2000.
Leaving Showbiz
Casper says she made the decision to leave showbiz for various reasons. “I have age anxiety and I’m frequently worried about being laid off. Actresses are quick to be judged for getting older. Alas there’s no role where I’m quite suited for”. Before the acting gigs fully dry up, the 42-year-old says it’s time to leave and try other opportunities.
You got to hand it to her, it takes guts to leave the familiar and start from scratch once more. The fact that she was a Miss Hong Kong contestant that had a long acting experience didn’t do much to get her good opportunities would be enough to deter anyone yet she still pushed on. “Society is too cruel” she laments.
As for what tomorrow may bring, Casper says she’s not afraid of what people will say and whether they’ll laugh at her. She’s here to learn and she’s not afraid of working hard. With her latest foray into business, the 42-year-old actress joins the ranks of many former actors who’ve transitioned to owning businesses or working regular jobs. After all, in life, there is indeed nothing you can’t do.

Kai
There are plenty of roles for older characters. She just doesn’t want to take older woman/ mother / aunty / grandmother roles, that’s all. Just accept reality that one cannot act young and cute characters anymore, and grow with the times.
