First it was Chinese star Huang Zitao’s unexpected venture into manufacturing sanitary napkins. Now it seems An Yuexi has also taken the leap into the sanitary napkin business, this time with the help of AI to design them? Considering the timing and everything, could this be the newest fad for celebrity ventures?
The 35-year-old actress recently took to social media to promote her newest venture, saying the first batch of products she designed for niche brand Suqingxingkong have already been packaged and are waiting to be tested. An Yuexi’s announcement comes at the heels of Tao’s which confirmed he’s working hard to produce sanitary products that are safe and of quality. He also emphasised his plans to build a factory where every step of production is 100% transparent.
Reception to both actor’s ventures seem to be split with some thinking whether this was all just a gimmick. Others are skeptical whether AI designed products are even reliable. Despite the doubts, many consumers said they will still support the ventures if the products are indeed good. An Yuexi’s fans in particular said they will be buying the product because they trust her whilst others said they support the concept of sanitary pads designed by a woman for women.
