Chinese short drama actor He Jianqi has found himself caught in cheating allegations that have now impacted his career. Yu Zheng has revealed the actor has been dropped from his upcoming drama.
The controversy began when a woman, claiming to be He Jianqi’s biggest supporter, claimed they met through a director, that she frequently sent gifts during his livestreams and they eventually started dating. However, she accused him of cheating, saying he juggled multiple relationships with other women without either party knowing. She claimed to have a video of him “crying and begging for forgiveness” and also shared alleged screenshots of the conversations. She ended her post by saying, “Mr. He is a good actor, but not a good man.”
As the controversy spread, some questioned He Jianqi’s casting in Yu Zheng’s new drama Yu Ming Cha Gu 玉茗茶骨 set to start filming soon. In response, Yu Zheng clarified He Jianqi was never cast as the second male lead but was only set to make a guest appearance. However, due to the backlash, he decided to remove him entirely. “If there’s even the slightest risk, we replace them. The industry is tough right now, and we can’t afford risks,” he stated.
Although the original post was deleted, it continues to sparked discussion. Some expressed shock with comments from disappointed fans. Others spoke up for him and found it extreme how one post on social media can lead to the 30-year-old actor, a rising star about to break into standard-length dramas, losing a role so easily.
