South Korean cheerleading star Lee Da-hye recently held a Q&A with Taiwanese fans where she spilled the tea about almost giving up cheerleading. The (not so) recent transplant to Taiwan claimed the move to Taiwan was “the best choice I have every made in my life”.
Lee Da-hye said at the time, she’d already been a cheerleader in Korea for four years and had started to consider her future in the sport. “Is this path really the right one? Should I give up?” It seems the invitation to go to Taiwan came at the right time as she decided to give it a try.
Despite studying Mandarin in university and having a solid familiarity with the language, Da-hye admits it wasn’t an easy decision to work in a country she’d never been in. Looking back however, she proudly said “this may be the best choice I have ever made in my life”. “At the time, I was hesitating whether to give up cheerleading altogether but Taiwan rekindled my passion for this job.”
The 25-year-old Lee Dahye who’s also a content creator and now K-pop singer started her cheering career with KIA Tigers in 2019. She made history when she became the first South Korean cheerleader to sign with a Taiwanese professional baseball league, joining Rakuten Monkeys in 2023 before moving to Wei Chuan Dragons in 2024.
