After a year and a half of anticipation, Seo Kang-joon finally makes his post-military comeback with Undercover High School, MBC’s crime-action comedy series. The 12-episode K-drama, set to premiere on February 21, 2025 follows the actor as National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent Jung Hae-sung, who goes undercover as a high school student to track down the whereabouts of gold bars that went missing during the reign of Emperor Gojong.
At 31 years old, Seo Kang-joon may not be your typical high schooler, but he certainly looks great in the promos as he dons the school uniform. While there was talk about his weight gain following his military service in 2023, the actor seems to have completed his transformation to look the part of an agent pretending to be a student. Actress Jin Ki Koo plays homeroom teacher Oh Soo-A.
Undercover High School looks to be a mix of high-energy action and comedy; and it’s certainly reminiscent of Stephen Chow’s Fight Back to School from the 90s. It should be absurdly fun to see Jung Hae-sung struggle to balance “teenage” life with his secret agent duties.
