For fans of classic Hong Kong cinema, it goes without saying that Sandra Ng needs no further introduction. Now 59-years-old, the accomplished actress who’s best known for her wacky roles and frequent collabs with Stephen Chow, has won multiple Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards. She has also worked behind the cameras as a director and producer. These days, Sandra can now add foster mum to her long list of achievements.
Between them, Sandra and her longtime partner, Hong Kong director Peter Chan have a daughter named Jilian who’s already 18. And whilst it looks like they’ve very happy being a family of three, it seems the actress has got so much more love to give. Hong Kong media recently reported that Sandra has a new baby at home. It turns out that she is currently fostering and taking care of a new born who was given up for adoption and is yet to find their forever home. Since no one has adopted the baby yet, foster families such as Sandra’s have come forward to take care of them. Truly, yet another example of why she’s a beloved actress in showbiz.

A lot of celebs have adopted kids, which used to be taboo in Chinese society (see all those old tvb plots that had adopted/god sons taking advantage of their foster parents.) But not many of them adopted/fostered because they wanted more kids, but because they didn’t have one themselves. People like Sandra who are fostering in spite of having a child of their own is beautiful and so brave. We need more Asian celebs like this
