Zang Hai Zhuan Teases a Dark and Intense Transformation for Xiao Zhan

Zang Hai Zhuan (藏海传) just dropped a teaser, and from the social media accounts promoting it, it looks like we can expect it to air not only on Youku but also on the state-run broadcast channel CCTV as part of their 2025 lineup.

The first trailer of Zang Hai Zhuan starts with Xiao Zhan’s titular character voicing the line: “Didn’t you always want to know what hidden secrets I have?” We then have a look into his story—his youth, the loss of his family, and a protagonist out for revenge. He navigates the political court, which fits the theme, but what’s unexpected is a very different Xiao Zhan. In that short teaser, he’s dressed in plain robes, hair tied, and walking through a snowy landscape with an aura of quiet determination. He’s giving so much intensity, and that wicked smile at the end? We’re clearly dealing with a morally grey character here, and it’s very intriguing. Aside from the actor, the teaser gives glimpses of the rest of the cast such as female lead Zhang Jingyi.

Lucky for fans, there’s a lot of Xiao Zhan going around lately. The actor-singer also has his upcoming movie, The Legend of the Condor Heroes, set for release on Lunar New Year, not to mention his new album, which has garnered massive sales. And now, there’s this. No air date yet for Zang Hai Zhuan, but can next year come sooner?
