Disney+ is gearing up to release its much-anticipated series Light Shop (조명상점) on December 4, 2024. Starring Ju Ji-hoon, Park Bo-young, Seolhyun, Bae Sung-woo, Uhm Tae-goo and many more, this new fantasy series has fans buzzing with excitement—not just for its star-studded cast but also due to its intriguing connection to the Moving universe. Both shows are based on the webtoons by acclaimed author Kang Full, who’s also onboard as the screenwriter.

When asked whether Light Shop exists in the same universe as Moving during their recent presscon, Kang Full offered a cryptic response: “All I can say is that Moving is set in 2018, and so is Light Shop.”

Light Shop cast

Light Shop follows a group of strangers grappling with past traumas, all drawn to a mysterious shop in a hidden alley. Run by a watchful shopkeeper (played by Ju Ji-hoon), this enigmatic store may unlock secrets about their lives and destinies. Thematically, it’s quite different from the 2023 K-drama Moving, which is easily one of the best superhero series with its story that centers around people with superpowers.

But apart from being penned by the same person, Light Shop will mark actor Kim Hee Won’s directorial debut. Incidentally, he also played the homeroom teacher in Moving. With the connection between the two shows, it’s no wonder many are hoping to see a crossover between the two series. After all, Bae Sung-woo’s detective, Yang Sung Sik —a pivotal character in Light Shop also appears in the Moving manhwa.
