Costumed historical Yin Deng Jue 引灯诀 has already kicked off filming this week. And guess what? The iQIYI series is now being headlined by Guo Junchen, aka Fiction Guo, and young actress Xia Meng.

Originally, rumours touted Wang Churan and Ding Yuxi to be the stars in iQIYI’s new xianxia drama. Then there were rumors the actor was no longer involved and that Wang Churan’s leading man would be Guo Junchen. Her fans have been opposing the drama, and it turns out the actress is not taking the role after all.
Guo Junchen plays a demon hunter in the series, but it seems there’s more to his character than meets the eye. Though not quite a household name yet, he’s actually been in the industry for close to a decade already. The 27-year-old actor debuted back in 2015 when he played Yang Yan in Go Princess Go. Since then, he’s taken the lead in various web dramas as well as supporting roles. Meanwhile, co-star Xia Meng has primarily played supporting roles since her debut in 2019. It was only recently that she finds herself moving up to leading lady roles.
The rest of the cast include Wu Yuheng who is also in the now airing The Rise of Ning, Wang Ruichang as a special lead and Zhou Yiru. The series also stars Ren Shihao and the super pretty actress Dai Si.
Yin Deng Jue Synopsis
Adapted from the novel Seven Songs (七歌) by Yu Weixun, the story is set in the world of immortals. Central to the plot is the soul guiding lamp. Guo Junchen stars as Yan Qige, a stone-faced demon hunter who is also cursed. Yu Sang meanwhile who’s portrayed by Xia Meng, is a big demon who wants to revive her people. As they embark on a mysterious (and romantic) journey wielding the lamp to catch demons, they uncover the entanglements from their past lifetime, going from enemies to lovers.
