“You Are My Lover Friend” Brings the Ultimate Throwback: Steven Zhang Xincheng, Wang Yuwen and Young Blood Cast

With their drama You are My Lover Friend 舍不得星星 currently on the air, the timing couldn’t be better to serve up a nice little throwback photo courtesy of co-stars Steven Zhang Xincheng and Uvin Wang Yuwen. Though we all know how these two and their families have been close friends for 16 years, it’s still nice to see snippets of their friendship long before they were famous. And how cute are these two hamming it up for the cameras in the childhood photo Wang Yuwen just shared?

Childhood Friends to Onscreen Sweethearts

You are My Lover Friend is actually the first drama the two longtime friends are working on together. And guess what, they play childhood sweethearts in the series. Whilst they might not have been lovers in real life, their 16-year friendship definitely played to their advantage when interpreting their roles. As the affectionate and warm Jiang Shiyan, Zhang Xincheng’s character is very caring and protective of his childhood sweetheart, Tang Yang (Wang Yuwen). The pair’s sweet interactions on the show definitely captured a lot of hearts. In fact, viewers even pointed out their longtime rapport is very much apparent whenever they’re on screen together.

Young Blood Cast Makes Cameo

And that’s not the only throwback! The unexpected reunion of the Young Blood cast in You Are My Lover Friend is another emotional surprise for fans. Seeing Zhou Yutong, Wang Youshuo, Su Xiaotong, Zheng Wei, and Fu Weilun make cameo appearances alongside Zhang Xincheng was the mini Qizhai team reunion we didn’t know we needed, except this time, they weren’t in ancient times but set in the modern world. The group briefly appears as high school classmates, with Zhang Xincheng and Wang Yuwen’s characters at a farewell dinner as they prepare to go their separate ways after conquering the college entrance exams. It’s a nod to their past collaboration and the friendship they formed to come together in support of Zhang Xincheng’s new drama.
