Huang Zitao is officially off the dating market! Tao asked his girlfriend Xu Yiyang to marry him in a fairytale proposal involving a sea of pink flowers and lots of happy tears. The heartwarming scene soon had everyone crying (including him) when he finally received a sweet “yes” from his equally tearful new fiancee.
In the clip, Tao was in earnest when he went down on one knee and tearfully asked: “do you agree to be the one who will be with me till the end? I have the courage to take you as my wife, are you willing to be with me?” Xu Yiyang was already crying by that time so it took her a moment before tearfully saying yes. Then, just like a scene from the movies (or a drama), they hugged each other tightly and sealed it with a kiss. Meanwhile friends who were present were also wiping off tears whilst pink petals softly swirled around them.

Going Public
During their reality show, Tao opened up about the struggles of keeping their relationship private. “How long have we been trying to cover this up?” he asked. “Holding hands—when did we ever do that? Every time there’s no one around, I try to hold your hand, but you always let go.” Xu Yiyang responded, explaining that she was afraid it would negatively affect him. Tao revealed that he wanted to finish the reality show as her boyfriend, not just a co-star. He made it clear that he no longer wanted to hide their love, saying he wants to hold her hand and do anything he can to show their affection openly.
Even though it was only recently that the couple actually admitted to being in a relationship, that certainly didn’t stop the rumourmill from speculating about their blossoming romance as early as 2020 when Xu Yiyang was a contestant in the variety show Chuang 2020 which Tao also hosted. Even their engagement was a subject of speculation when photos from the proposal were leaked online. While the couple have kept any details about their relationship away from the prying eyes of the public in the past, the two have been very sweet since going public.
