Jang Keun-suk revealed that he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in October 2023 but chose to keep it a secret to avoid worrying his fans. He underwent surgery in May 2024, which fortunately went very smoothly, and he is now recovering well. “I was afraid everyone would worry, so I didn’t share the bad news,” The 38-year-old South Korean singer-actor confessed, “Luckily, the surgery was a success” and he could take time off to go on vacation.
In a new YouTube video titled “Hello, this is Jang Keun-suk. I have something to confess,” he greeted his fans and shared his experience. He recounted how terrified he felt and how his body didn’t function properly for over eight days. It took him two weeks before he could do anything, though he could barely open his mouth at the time, he expressed gratitude for his recovery.
During his heyday, Jang was extremely popular across Asia, earning the nickname “Asia Prince.” Many fans, including myself, fondly remember falling for his rocker-pretty-boy charm in the 2009 drama “You’re Beautiful.” He is currently appearing in the newly released Netflix reality series “The Influencer” as the only celebrity among the influencer contestants.
