24-year-old actor-model Song Weilong recently made headlines over backstage drama involving his management company, Huanyu Film. Netizens recently discovered that Song Weilong’s Weibo profile now simply describes him as “Actor” instead of “Huanyu Film Signed Artist.” It’s worth noting that stars under same agency owned by Yu Zheng which include the likes of Xu Kai, Bai Lu, Wu Jinyan and Nie Yuan all have Huanyu listed under their profile.

In response to the online speculation that Song Weilong may have left the company, Huanyu Film released a statement denying any termination of contract. They assert an ongoing contractual dispute, stating that legal procedures have not concluded, and the agreement remains legally binding. Meanwhile, Song Weilong’s studio fired back with a statement on the contract dispute emphasizing the actor and his studio have the right to independently navigate his career. They declared that, unless necessary, the studio won’t provide further responses to the ongoing controversy.
Song Weilong’s legal legal tussle with his agency first came to light in May 2022. It’s been almost two years since. Many thought the recent update would mean he has managed to leave his agency, but conflicting statements from both parties, has left fans and industry insiders to more speculation.

I am curious to why both turn against each other… why did Yu Zheng freeze Song?

Maybe because Song was “disobedient”?

Wow, he’s only 24?…I always thought SWL is handsome, but looks older than his age.

He just turned 25 in March of this year, but he’s played older in quite a few of his roles. I would be curious to ask the commenter “Ash” (above), what they meant, because I have read that some of these female managers are tough on some of their male talent (don’t know any specifics or who in particular). It does seem that several of Yu Zheng’s young male actors are everywhere you look, but Weilong has faded over the past couple of years. I guess now we know why…I also read that his manager and mom are friends (like everything else, no idea if this is true), and that’s a giant red flag. He doesn’t seem the type to sue someone without a good reason, but I could be totally wrong, who knows? I just wish him the best and hope his career isn’t shot.
