Back to Life (冬风吹又生), starring Chen Duling and Qu Chuxiao as Yu Jiuqi and Sun Xi, tells a Romeo and Juliet-esque romance set in a small northeastern city in China. The teaser is emotionally heavy, with the male lead taunted as the “murderer’s son.” Meanwhile, Chen Duling’s character reassures her family that there’s no need to worry because they will forever remain enemies. Their two families are caught in a blood feud that has lasted for over twenty years and after much drama, a time skip, and a reunion, they ultimate declare “We’re not running away anymore.”
It’s crazy to realize how time flies with Jiang Xin now in a special starring role as the mother, and it looks like she’s returning to a villainous role here. The 43-year-old actress plays Wen Wen, Yu Jiuqi’s adoptive mother. Still consumed by hatred toward the Sun family following her husband’s death, Wen Wen is strong-willed, controlling, and deeply obsessive. Although she wants to protect Yu Jiuqi, her intentions are mixed, harboring a sense of guilt and an overwhelming desire to control her daughter.
Adapted from a novel of the same name by Chun Ya (淳牙), it follows Yu Jiuqi (Chen Duling) and Sun Xi (Qu Chuxiao), who secretly fall in love despite the deep-rooted hatred between their families. Fate eventually forces them apart, but years later, they reunite, navigating the complicated boundaries to find their way back to each other. It also stars Chen Haoming, Liu Ruilin and Zhu Yan Man Zi.
