Chinese actress Rosy Zhao Lusi is entering a new chapter in her career. This August 2026, which marks ten years after signing her debut contract, her studio announced a portfolio of nine IPs spanning across different genres from historical, mystery, contemporary romance, to time-travel. The announcement signals a significant shift for the 27-year-old star, who is now going beyond her identity as an actress and taking on a more active role in content development and production.
Zhao Lusi revealed that the projects were not assembled at the last minute. She had been quietly collecting promising projects for some time, intending to take greater control of her career rather than simply waiting for suitable acting opportunities. “I don’t want to passively wait for good scripts,” she explained. Instead, she said she would rather create opportunities herself, adding that some of the best stories can come from everyday life.
The first project moving forward is the short-form drama I’m Not Just an NPC, which is scheduled to begin filming in Hengdian on August 22. The production stars Bao Jieyi, Zhou Zhiyi, Hou Ben, and Wei Xiao, artists signed with Zhao Lusi’s studio. The project is particularly notable because Zhao Lusi serves as a producer for the first time.
