On July 30, 2026, Rebecca Zhu who launched her showbiz career with TVB after being crowned Miss Hong Kong in 2011 announced that she is leaving the network after 15 years. The actress shared a farewell message on social media alongside a collection of photos from snapshots with late icons such as Patrick Tse and Benz Hui, as well as milestone moments like winning Best Supporting Actress.
Reflecting on Her 15-Year Showbiz Career
The 38-year-old actress recalled entering the industry as a newcomer before gradually building her career through dramas like Triumph in the Skies II, A General, A Scholar and an Eunuch, Wonder Women, Forensic Heroes IV and The Beauty of War. “This stage gave me countless opportunities, to learn, to make mistakes, to grow, and to be seen.”
Rebecca Zhu also expressed gratitude to the many producers and executives who helped shape her career. She thanked Miss Hong Kong producer Catherine Ho for the opportunity to enter the entertainment industry, producer Chong Wai Kin for casting her despite her lack of experience, and Wong Wai Yan for her first leading role. She also acknowledged executive producer Chung Shu Kai for his guidance on set and TVB executive Virginia Lok for recommending her for acting opportunities whenever possible. The actress paid tribute to veteran producer Leung Choi Yuen, who recently passed away as they had worked together on The Dripping Sauce.
She thanked TVB, its cast and crew, and the viewers who supported her throughout the years. Despite ending her contract, she stressed, “This departure is not a goodbye, it is simply the beginning of a new chapter in my acting journey.” She added that TVB will “always be the place where my dreams began” and expressed hope that she would have the opportunity to work with the broadcaster again if the right project comes along. Looking ahead, she intends to stay true to her passion for acting while exploring opportunities in different fields. “Until we meet again,” she said.
