Tzuyu Reportedly Leaving JYP, Will Continue TWICE Group Activities

Tzuyu, the only Taiwanese member of K-pop group TWICE, has reportedly decided not to renew her exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment. According to South Korean media News1, Tzuyu and JYP Entertainment have reached an agreement not to extend her contract when it expires later this year. Despite the reported decision, she will remain active as a member of TWICE for group promotions, a move commonly seen among idols who leave their company. TWICE recently wrapped up its sixth world tour, “THIS IS FOR,” after nearly a year on tour. The nine-member group previously renewed their contracts with JYP in 2022, scheduled to expire in October 2026.

Speculation about the members’ future has intensified in recent weeks. Jeongyeon was reported to be considering a move to VARO Entertainment, the agency representing her sister Gong Seung Yeon and actor Byeon Woo Seok. Meanwhile, Tzuyu’s parents were reported to have established an entertainment company named Yu Hai Entertainment in Tainan, Taiwan. They were also = spotted meeting veteran entertainment executive Sam Chen Ze-shan, who has worked with major Mandopop stars like Jolin Tsai. Chaeyoung, is said to have met with other entertainment agencies regarding her solo career, sparking speculation that she may also sign with a different company while continuing to promote with TWICE.

Tzuyu debuted with TWICE in 2015 and quickly became one of the group’s most recognizable members. The group rose to the top of the K-pop industry with hit songs including “Like OOH-AHH,” “Cheer Up,” and “TT.”
