Qin Lan Recovers Her Voice After Years of Vocal Cord Problems

Chinese actress Qin Lan has finally recovered her voice in her recent public appearance, putting an end to the vocal cord condition she had battled for years. The 46-year-old actress’s ordeal began in 2019 while filming Story of Yanxi Palace, where emotionally demanding crying scenes placed significant strain on her voice and triggered chronic laryngitis. After starring in Legacy in 2020, she was diagnosed with unilateral vocal fold paralysis, a condition in which the vocal cord does not close properly during speech.

Her condition became increasingly noticeable in recent years, especially her appearance on the reality show The Inn. Qin Lan later revealed that her voice became even hoarser after undergoing vocal cord surgery in early 2026 due to post-operative swelling. She jokingly said she sounded like the “Big Bad Wolf grandma.”

Fortunately, it look likes all her efforts have finally paid off. In a recent interview, Qin Lan shared that she’s doing so much better now. She had continued taking medication while balancing work and underwent both Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine treatments. Although poor air quality and extreme fatigue can still affect her voice, she is able to speak normally again.

Fans have celebrated Qin Lan’s recovery, with many expressing happiness that her voice has returned to normal after a long struggle. They can finally hear the beautiful voice they had missed, and she would be able to personally dub her dramas once more.
