Kung fu superstar Jet Li has addressed for the first time the long-standing rumors that he favored the two daughters he shares with his current wife, former Hong Kong actress Nina Li Chi, over the two daughters from his previous marriage to Huang Qiuyan, which lasted three years (1987-1990).
The 63-year-old martial arts icon is the father of four daughters. He shares his two eldest daughters, Li Si and Li Taimi, with his ex-wife Huang Qiuyan whom he met at Beijing Sports School, while he and Nina Li Chi have two younger daughters, Jane and Jada. For years, there were rumors that Jet Li was distant from his elder daughters while doting on his younger children. In an interview with his youngest, Jada Li, conducted in English, she asked her father about how he balanced fairness among his four daughters, noting they had “very different upbringings.”
Jet Li replied, “Lots of things are talked about on Chinese platforms. Some people say I didn’t treat my two older daughters nicely. We never wanted to explain.” He went on to praise his wife, Nina Li Chi, for the role she played in caring for his daughters. “Before having you two, your mom said, ‘Okay, I’ll take care of the two girls (Li Si and Li Taimi). I’ll pay for everything. I’ll take care of their schooling.’ Your mom was very nice to your two older sisters. They’re very close.” Jet Li said he thought the setup was good and explained that Li Chi also made financial arrangements for the girls’ future.
He told Jada, “Your mom decided to put some money aside. I thought it was good enough for the two girls until they were 100 years old.” Jada then asked, “Good enough, but was it fair?” Jet Li responded, “I think it was good enough for a normal life. Even if they didn’t work, they would still have enough money to take care of themselves.” He added that Li Chi later purchased homes for his elder daughters. “Later on, your mom bought two houses, one in America and one in China, for your two older sisters. Then they started working and made their own money.”
According to Jet Li, Li Chi told the sisters they didn’t need anything financially, instead, “you only need to take care of yourself and take care of your mom (Huang Qiuyan.)” Despite years of public speculation about their family dynamics, Jet Li who originally held Chinese citizenship before becoming a naturalized Singaporean citizen, emphasized that the family has remained close. “Every year, they come to Singapore. We go to America to see each other.”

No respect for this man. So, it was his 2nd wife who made all arrangements for the 1st wife and daughters, not him. Meaning, if the 2nd wife was not a good person, then his first and elder daughters would really suffered.

For what? About the damn illegitimate daughter?

bleh, the children with 2nd wife look butt ugly. It’s probably reverse karma that he didn’t grow up with a Dad. Coz he made his future first 2 kids grow up without a Dad. Sometimes fate doesn’t want to dish out karma in your next life but in the same lifetime. Also, if you watch time loop dramas, who says fate can’t travel back in time and dish karma for something you did in the future?
