Choi Sooyoung’s agency, Saram Entertainment, has confirmed that the 36-year-old singer-actress and actor Jung Kyung-ho, 42, have ended their 14-year relationship. According to the agency, the two broke up amicably after growing apart due to their busy schedules. The confirmation comes after Netizens noticed that the two have recently unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Saram Entertainment confirmed to media outlets that the couple had indeed broken up, stating, “The two have parted ways and will remain good colleagues.” Jung Kyung-ho’s agency also confirmed the breakup, saying that the pair had “redefined their relationship after growing apart.” According to South Korean media, a source claimed that Jung Kyung-ho, who has continuously been working on acting projects, and Choi Sooyoung, who frequently travels between South Korea and Japan for activities, had very little time to see each other due to their demanding schedules.
Choi Sooyoung and Jung Kyung-ho had long been regarded as one of South Korea’s most enduring celebrity couples, which is why many were expecting wedding bells until the sudden news of their breakup. The pair reportedly began dating in 2012 and their relationship lasted 14 years.

Sad news indeed. 14 years is a long time to be together, longer than some marriages. Reminds me of Honey Lee and Yoon Kye Sang. I suspect there is a third party in their separation.

I seriously doubt that cheating was involved. My guess is that they wanted different things. One wanted to settle down, the other just wanted to continue their career. It’s no crime. 14 years is a long time to date without any planned future in sight. In retrospect, they are right to call it off now if there’s no future in their relationship, especially if one wants to get married, settle down and have kids. Time is not on their side.
Although, personally, I wonder if it has to be one or the other, there are many celebrities who get married but are still able to function in their career, Park Shin Hye & Choi Tae Joon and Lee Bo Young & Ji Sung are good examples. Even Kim Tae Hee still put out a few dramas after her marriage. It doesn’t have to be either or. But everyone has their different priorities and they have a right to choose what is best for themselves and who they want that future to be with.

It does not have to be anything spectacular. People do not stay together just out of habit. Sometimes the bond that brought a couple together simply disappears over the time. The relationship ran its course.
