Chinese singer and actor Huang Zitao has publicly criticized a dental clinic after details of his treatment were allegedly photographed and shared online without his consent.
A person with the handle “dentist (牙e)” allegedly posted information about Huang Zitao on WeChat Moments. The dentist shared two photos of the actor lying in a dental chair during treatment and the caption, “Thank you, Mr. Huang Zitao, for your trust. After doing 16 veneers for him, he came back again for an inlay procedure.” The post quickly spread beyond the person’s social circle and was reposted across social media.
In response, Tao reprimanded the clinic and wrote, “If it weren’t for Dr. Wu, who treated me before he passed, because I value old relationships and wanted to go back and have my teeth done, you people *** secretly photographed me and posted this private information without my permission. Who I am and what I do are completely irrelevant! Secretly taking photos of me and spreading them without my consent, frankly speaking, it shows a complete lack of basic decency and professionalism. Have some shame if you’re going to do business.”
It’s certainly not the first time the 33-year-old star has gotten mad at someone. Majority of online commenters condemned what happened especially given the blatant invasion of privacy many public figures face and healthcare professionals having a duty to protect patient information.

He rightly should be crossed. His private healthcare is not public information.

Pretty appalling and highly unethical on the Dentist’s part. They were obviously hoping for free advertising and exposure, but a complete breach of Huang Zitao’s privacy. I’m sure if they had asked for his permission first or asked him to say nice things about the practice, he may have quite happily put up some good posts. Now they’ve lost a celebrity client and angered Huang Zitao along the way.
