Yang Yang and Chen Duling are confirmed to star as the leads of modern drama Kiss in the Wind (等风热吻你), which as the title suggests is looking kind of sultry. The two are reuniting for the first time in 11 years, since the 2015 film The Left Ear, which also served as Chen Duling’s acting debut. Meanwhile, the drama marks Yang Yang’s return to the modern romance genre following his 2023 series Fireworks of My Heart, which may have been a hit, but was heavily criticized and led to a low period for the actor until he once again proved his staying power with his iconic role in The Immortal Ascension.
The Tencent S+ modern romance drama also announced Taiwanese directors Gia Lee (Hidden Love) and Chu Yu-ning (The First Frost) at the helm. With both being known as “hit-makers” in the genre, their names are also listed in the order of their surnames. Adding to the star power is a promotional release of the classic song The Beginning of the End by Taiwanese rock band Mayday.
Adapted from the novel of the same name by Ji Ji De Mao, Kiss in the Wind follows the trope of lovers reunited though to get to that point, there will be angst and obsession. It tells the story of Fu Xueli, a glamorous top female celebrity and Xu Xingchun, a cold and aloof forensic doctor. The two fell in love when they were young but broke up because of a misunderstanding. Both go on to achieve remarkable success in their respective careers, yet neither can truly let go of the other. Six years later, they reunite and begin their journey toward rekindling their lost love.
