Former TVB actress Leila Tong was recently in the news after her management company sued her for allegedly breaching her contract. According to Hong Kong media, the claims reportedly revealed details about her mental health, alleging that she suffers from severe depression and has borderline personality traits.
Leila Tong reportedly signed a 10-year exclusive management contract in 2019, set to expire in 2028. Her agency alleges that during the contract period, Tong took on work independently, changed managers, refused to hand over control and passwords for her social media accounts, and even dyed her hair without approval. The lawsuit also described incidents involving alleged self-harm and knife threats. They are asking the court to confirm the validity of the contract and even recounted incidents from a few years ago where Tong reportedly became unreachable late at night following a discussion about work arrangements. When she was asked to return to work, she allegedly harmed herself. Her manager also claims to have woken up early one morning to find Tong standing beside the bed holding a knife.
Leila Tong has been raising her son and daughter alone since divorcing in 2017. She has since moved to New Zealand and largely stepped away from the entertainment industry. In the early hours of today, she shared an IG story of herself casually enjoying the day. She used the background song “You Are Enough Today,” which included the lyric, “It’s all ok”.
