Jacky Wu (Wu Tsung-hsien), one of Taiwan’s most recognizable television hosts with a career spanning more than three decades, has revealed that he has been divorced for the past 12 years. Often referred to as the “King of Variety Shows,” he’s known to be a devoted father, hosting shows with his daughter, Sandy Wu until 2025 last year. Jacky Wu married Chang Wei-wei in the early 1990s, though he kept the marriage private for several years before publicly acknowledging it in 2000. The couple have four children, three daughters and a son, including TV host Sandy Wu, actress-singer Rita Wu, and singer Rick Wu, who goes by the stage name LucyPIE.

Having rarely spoken about his family life, the 63-year-old Taiwanese star had only admitted that he and Chang Wei-wei had been living separately for many years, even revealing that he didn’t know where she was living. However, during a recent performance in Genting Highlands, Malaysia, Jacky Wu surprised many by disclosing for the first time that he and Chang had actually divorced 12 years ago in 2014. According to Sin Chew Daily, Wu said he left all his assets to his ex-wife following the divorce and revealed that their eldest daughter, Sandy Wu, was the one who helped with the paperwork. “I wasn’t a good husband, but I was definitely a good father,” he had said in the past. Jacky Wu confirmed that the divorce had been amicable, saying the two parted ways peacefully.
