A leaked audio recording of vertical drama actress Guo Yuxin has sparked controversy after she appeared to dismiss comparisons with actress Zhou Ye, saying, “It’s not certain who’s benefiting from whom,” given the public exposure from their names being mentioned concurrently.
What Happened?
It stemmed from two occasions in which Guo Yuxin and Zhou Ye were seen wearing the same Dior outfits at separate events. While some viewed the matching looks as pure coincidence, others accused the former of deliberately wearing the same outfits as Zhou Ye, an official Dior brand ambassador, to ride on her popularity by being compared. What’s worse, an alleged recording believed to be a conversation between Guo and her team, recently made the rounds online.
They were reportedly discussing actresses, mentioning names such as Yang Zi and Zhao Lusi. When the conversation turned to Zhou Ye, Guo Yuxin could be heard saying, “Between Zhou Ye and me, it’s not even clear who’s riding whose coattails.” She also commented on the topic making the trending searches, saying, “Zhou Ye is the one with the real resources,” while referring to her association with A-list actress Li Bingbing. The conversation ended with the remark, “She doesn’t really have much buzz anyway, so let’s just treat this as doing her a favor.”

However, some questioned the timing of the leak, which came amid her contract dispute with her former management company, leading to speculation that the recording may have been intentionally released as part of an internal conflict. Others argued that the focus should be on the leak of a private conversation rather than the remarks themselves. Some also defended her, pointing out that the discussion was reportedly about rankings on Hongguo, a platform dedicated to vertical dramas. They argued that, as the star of the hit vertical drama Summer Rose (盛夏芬德拉), her confidence in her standing within that niche was not entirely unfounded.
Even so, many netizens maintained that the two actresses are clearly incomparable. That part about not having much buzz does seem true for Zhou Ye, though. Her perceived popularity doesn’t appear to be as strong as it’s often portrayed, especially if you look across different Chinese social media platforms, regardless of how heavily her team promotes her visuals and beauty image. Her big ip dramas with lackluster results are proofs.

To each their own. I like Zhou Ye and have watched a number of her dramas. She is a good actress, well, at least much better than some of the bigger named celebrities. On the other hand, I have never heard of this Guo actress.
And there is nothing wrong with “not much buzz”. Most of the buzz came from scandals anyway. Nothing wrong with good and honest work and simple lives. Besides, breaks come at different times for different people.

Idk.. I think ppl are so fast to attack. Tbh i think i understand what GYX said. From what i understand:
1. Ppl are attacking her (GYX) for wearing the same dress as ZY right? From GYX perspective ofc she would be sad/angry. Hence maybe why she said that.
2. It is also true that it trended after she wore the dress and not after ZY wear it.
3. And she imply that these trended thing shouldnt happen in the 1st place. Whats the point of trending about dress?
4. She is from a small company. What money does she have to mediaplay. So Its normal to say celeb from big company are likely to pay trending spot. Just look at how ppl are attacking her instead.
