The Rebirth of Love (我与爱同谋), starring Guan Xiaotong and Lin Yi, is currently filming in Qingdao. It may seem like a typical romance drama at first glance, but it’s far from it given the suspense, the “faux siblings”, and a fantasy rebirth theme. The story centers on a step-brother and sister pair from a blended family who experience mutual redemption across three time loops.
The Rebirth of Love Plot and Cast
Su Zhiqiu (Guan Xiaotong), cold and decisive, and Song Fengxia (Lin Yi), a character burdened by childhood trauma, go through three lifetimes. In their first life, the younger sister is reborn and tries unsuccessfully to save her brother. In their second life, the older brother awakens to the truth, but still cannot escape his doomed fate. In their third life, the siblings join forces to rewrite destiny together.
This marks the third collaboration between Guan Xiaotong and Lin Yi after Hu Tong and Go Somewhere in the Snow. The onscreen couple, known for their height, have been dubbed the “long-legged CP.” The Rebirth of Love, produced by Ruyi Film, is developing both a film and drama at the same time. Other cast making special appearances include Liu Yijun, Wang Ou and Song Yang. It also stars Yao Chen, Cecilia Boey, Wang Zixuan and more.

Considering what’s been coming out newswise from Thailand right now, I’m really disgusted by inc*st pairings – even if its ‘fake inc*st’. If you grow up with someone as your brother/sister – whether or not you are biologically related – looking at them in a sexual way is obscene and abusive. Sounds like the plot for this is trying to excuse it under dependancy and is romantizing what for people in the REAL world is trauma. It must feel aweful to be a survior of inc*st and see it romantized on TV. I knew a girl in college who was a survior of inc*st by her adoptive elder brother and the whole family rejected her when it came out he’d inpregnated her. She was 11 at the time while he was going to college and he’d been r*ping her since she was 7. Families so often support the abuser it makes me sick. I will not watch this; I don’t want to support romatizing abuse.

Abuse is abuse, regardless of the relationship between abuser and victim. The law defines this. Any person, whether a step-sibling , a sibling, a parent, a step-parent, a care giver, a teacher, an uncle, an aunty, a friend, a stranger etc etc, who have or attempted to have sexual relations with a victim below the age of consent is abuse, regardless of whether the victim actually consented or not.
Do not confuse child abuse with consensual sexual relations between adults . However, certain categories of adult relationships are also regulated by the law. Eg. incest is made a crime in every country and “consent” is not a defense. What constitutes “incest”, again depends on the individual country’s definition. For eg. in some countries, a person can marry a legally adopted sibling (who is not related by blood), in other countries, this would be incest. In some countries, marrying 1st cousins is acceptable; in others, it’s incest and illegal.
Categories like in the spectrum of LGBTQ are also crimes in many countries. And yet, you do love to watch BL or GL dramas, right?
However, a romantic, straight relationship between step-siblings is neither a crime nor prohibited in almost all countries around the world. Whether it feels morally acceptable or not is subjective, depending on the circumstances. If they were only introduced in their teen years or they grew up in separate households, it might feel ok. If they grew up together since childhood in the same household, it might feel reprehensible. Even so, to many, it is no different from the neighbor’s kid with whom you grew up with, play with, went to school with, your best buddy and friend, the person you have known your entire life and one day, this develops into romantic feelings. Yet, this is totally acceptable and everyone is totally happy with it. Heck, this is a lot closer than step-siblings who usually came into your life at a much later stage after respective parents’ failed marriages.
Hope that helps to clarify the difference between legality and morality.

You are correct about legality vs morality. But as someone who has step-brother this feels so wrong on so many levels. I asked my step-brother and he shares the feeling. Exploring taboo by romanticizing it is wrong. It normalizes smth that shouldn’t be normalized. Add to that age brackets under 16 and you have now also legal situation. My point was about normalizing via romanticizing certain forms of relationships vs exploring concepts, taboos etc. Specially for underage audience. Same goes for concubine stile relationships. Why would anyone in right mind accept to be ‘second/third’ wife and still cdramas sometimes romanticize these relationships effectively normalizing emperor/concubines, superior/inferior like relationships in real life (reference to favored concubine/mistress vs official wife situation-ship). Just because they can do these type of dramas it does not mean they should.

If you are going to do taboo love do it well don’t waste my time with 40 episode.. zero taboo

wat is Cdrama ‘a obsession with brother-sister relationships 😭 Love and Speed, Go Ahead, and now this? I don’t care that they are not blood related. Getting feels for someone you grew up is WEIRD.
