Huang Xiaoming has issued a public apology for allowing his 9-year-old son to ride a bicycle on a public road. The actor had shared now-deleted photos on social media showing an outing withLittle Sponge, his son with ex-wife Angelababy. However, the warm father-son moment, with the pair riding bicycles and high-fiving along the streets of Shanghai sparked controversy. Netizens pointed out that his son is only 9 years old, below the minimum cycling age of 12 in China and that neither seemed to be wearing a helmet.
On April 5, Huang Xiaoming responded by posting a lengthy apology. He admitted that he had overlooked regulations due to negligence and that, as a father, he should have set a better example. He expressed remorse to the public, and called on parents to recognize that “just because a child can ride a bicycle does not mean they are allowed on the road.”
Huang Xiaoming voluntarily went to the police department to accept punishment. Due to the ongoing Qingming Festival holiday, he was advised to return after the break for formal processing. He pledged to fully cooperate with authorities and accept any penalties or educational measures required. Some argued that the criticism was excessive, noting that many people can be seen doing the same. Others emphasized that public figures bear greater responsibility and that safety should never be taken lightly.

I agree. I feel sorry for the son to have a father always in media for doing dumb stuff and now the man is bringing his son into public discussion like this. If the father wants to maintain public pressence why doesn’t he do positive activities by himself instead of bringing critizism on the boy.

Cycling without helmet is bad discipline habit and bad parenting. Especially for a young child. How can a dad brings out young son on public road without a protection gears.

Actually, this regulation is also a surprise to me. In my country, there is no minimum age for riding a bicycle on a public road and there is no requirement to wear a helmet. And we have very few bicycle lanes unlike what China cities have. Guess our government is just not so safety-minded.

I did know there’s a minimum age for recycling 🤯 and what defines a “public road?” cause isn’t every road a public road? We bike all the time in the streets in town without helmets (though we should). There are bike lanes but they’re right next to the roads.

@Spooked
I think you meant to say “bicycling” not “recycling”.
