SBS’s Friday–Saturday drama Phantom Lawyer, which saw premiere week ratings reach 8.7%, more than double the ratings of its predecessor No Tail to Tell, continues its strong start into its second week. Despite a slight dip to 7.8%, the show just keeps getting better.
Phantom Lawyer tells the story of a lawyer, played by Yoo Yeon-seok, who starts seeing spirits after moving into the home of a former shaman. Frequently possessed by spirits of different ages, genders, and personalities, he works to help these unusual “clients” seek justice. His latest client is the ghost of a high school girl who was once a K-pop trainee, and then we get the hilarious scene of the 41-year-old actor bringing out his inner girl group idol, as his character literally can’t help but dance to IVE’s song “LOVE DIVE” when it suddenly plays. And he’s done it again, this time on his own social media.
The show is currently the ratings leader in its time slot, outperforming competing dramas, including MBC’s In Your Radiant Season, starring Lee Sung-kyung and Chae Jong-hyeop, which remained near its low at 2.9% while cable drama Still Shining starring Jin Young hit a new low of 0.9%. It’s funny and spooky at the same time, raising expectations that ratings will climb again for tonight’s episode.
