Park Shin-hye Previously Ran One-Person Company Amid Broader Tax Oversight in Korean Entertainment

Amid increased scrutiny by South Korean tax authorities over one-person corporations used by celebrities, 36-year-old actress Park Shin-hye has been revealed to have previously operated a similar business structure.

According to a report by Chosunbiz released on Feb 27, Park Shin-hye ran a one-person corporation from 2015 to 2021. The company was reportedly registered at her home address. This type of setup has recently come under increased scrutiny in recent months after actor Cha Eun-woo found himself accused of tax evasion, using the structure to reduce tax liabilities.

In response to the reports, Park Shin-hye’s agency, Salt Entertainment, stated that the company became known to them in 2016, after which they immediately instructed that it be dissolved. They were unaware that Park Shin Hye was listed as director until March 2021 and emphasized that none of her entertainment fees were settled through the corporation, denying any wrongdoing. Meanwhile, an industry insider also claimed that payments had been processed through the company, presenting a differing account from the agency’s statement.
