Bai Lu, Meng Ziyi, Joseph Zeng, and Chen Xinhai were recently spotted traveling together to Dagushan (Dagu Mountain). It appeared to be a trip with no production crew, staff, or variety show filming involved. The group reportedly queued to purchase incense and walked around the grounds to offer prayers. They stopped at the famous tree for the “tree-hugging blessing” ritual. As the outing was just before Lunar New Year, many speculate the trip was primarily to make New Year wishes.

Dagushan has seen a surge in celebrity visits the past year, with more than 40 celebs reportedly stopping by. Among them are veteran actors Eric Tsang as well as stars like Johnny Huang, Angelababy, Huang Xiaoming, and Zhang Ziyi. Arthur Chen was said to have visited with his entire family, staying for three consecutive days, while Li Naiwen reportedly checked in six times within half a year. The star-studded visits has sparked the question “Why Dagushan?”

Dagushan, located in Donggang, Liaoning Province, is considered a sacred site where Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism converge. The area features 26 temples and millennium-old trees. The most famous is the 1,200-year-old ginkgo tree from the Tang Dynasty. Many visitors walk clockwise around the tree while touching the trunk and making wishes as part of the traditional blessing ritual.

Whether for stress relief, spiritual peace, scenic views, or simply exercise, Dagushan has become a destination not only for tourists but also for a growing number of Chinese celebrities.
