A Love Confession About a Secret Crush Pairs Wang Xingyue with Deng Enxi

A Love Confession (告白) has announced its cast along with posters. The series stars Wang Xingyue and Deng Enxi in a coming-of-age story centered on a long-harbored secret crush. Wang Xingyue plays the rebellious yet deeply devoted pilot Zhou Jingze, while Deng Enxi portrays Xu Sui, a medical student who appears cold on the outside but is warm on the inside. The drama is adapted from the novel of the same name by Ying Cheng (应橙).

A Love Confession follows Xu Sui’s ten-year unrequited love for Zhou Jingze, from her one-sided crush in high school, to their relationship in university that ends in a misunderstanding, and finally to their reunion eight years later, where they find mutual healing. He becomes a pilot while she becomes a doctor.

Filming began in Chengdu in January 2026. This project marks Wang Xingyue’s transition from a string of costume dramas to top-billing a modern idol romance. The actor, whom many were surprised to learn was much younger than he looked when he starred in the hit drama The Double, has often been paired with actresses older than him. This time around, the 23-year-old actor stars opposite Deng Enxi who is three years his junior. At 20 years old, the actress already has quite the résumé, having started acting at the age of 12.

Many feel both fit the youthful vibe of the drama perfectly. It looks like we’re getting the classic hidden crush trope (which can be very cute), paired with a “good girl meets bad boy” dynamic, misunderstandings, separation, and an emotional reunion, so there will be angst. The drama is directed by Shawn Zhang Xiao’an and produced by Mango TV and Hunan TV. The second couple will be played by Zuo Ye and Sun Qinghui.
