Chinese Idol Caught in Video Grabbing Sisheng Fan and Knocking Away Phone, His Agency Responds

Chinese Idol Filmed Grabbing Sisheng Fan and Knock Away Phone, His Agency Responds

The 24-year-old Chinese idol Ling Chao, also known as Didi, rose to fame in 2018 after participating in the talent show Idol Producer. Despite not making the cut, he later debuted as a member of the C-pop boy group ONER. Today, multiple hashtags related to “Ling Chao hitting fans at the airport” trended, and his management company has since issued a response to clarify what happened.

Ling Chao’s Agency Explains Stalker Fan Incident

Paparazzi videos of the incident

Paparazzi footage shows Ling Chao suddenly knocked away one person’s phone, then grabbed their hoodie before she fell to the ground. After seeing this, a staff member stepped in and pulled Ling Chao away to prevent the situation from escalating. In another clip at a parking lot, Ling Chao opens the car door, grabs a woman who was standing at the door filming, snatches the phone from her hand, and throws it away before getting back into the car.

In response, his agency stated that the incident occurred at a high-speed rail station, not an airport. They claim that Ling Chao only grabbed the other party’s phone and caused damage to the screen and said that no physical violence took place. The person involved was identified as a long-term stalker fan (“sisheng”). Both sides have already negotiated compensation for the damaged phone.

This is not the first time Ling Chao had incidents with sisheng. Previously, at a fan signing event, he angrily told a stalker fan to leave. Two years ago, during a concert, he also publicly called out stalker fans and also posted online asking them to stay away from him. Meanwhile, the stalker is suspected of responding on social media, saying they were “free sparring with Ling Chao,” and even appeared proud of it.

Public reaction showed two extremes. Even if the person involved was a stalker, many were appalled by his actions, saying Ling Chao was wrong to get physical, especially towards women. Others argue that he did not “hit” anyone as the hashtag suggested and that he was simply pushed to the brink due to excessive sisheng behavior.
