“Love on the Turquoise Land”: Premiere Date, Cast & Plot

Love on the Turquoise Land (枭起青壤) has just announced its premiere date: November 22, 2025, on Tencent. So far, it’s been teasing a dark fantasy centered on the conflict between humans and ferocious beasts known as the “Earth Ghosts” that have been known to take human form. It’s really feeling like a mix of zombie and monster thrills with action-packed sequences, basically the kind of high-energy, popcorn-worthy drama you sit back and enjoy. It’ll be refreshing to see Dilraba Dilmurat as the badass heroine along with the team of “Nanshan Hunters.” Given her popularity, expectations are running high not just in China, but internationally as well.

Love on the Turquoise Land is adapted from Wei Yu’s novel of the same name. It follows Nie Jiuluo, played by Dilraba, a sculptor by day and the fearsome successor of the “Mad Blade” by night, and Yan Tuo, portrayed by Chen Xingxu, a wealthy heir driven by vengeance. The actor may be four years younger than Dilraba but his look pairs up so well with the actress that I’d been rooting for this couple pairing even before it was confirmed. The beautiful Zhang Li who often takes on female lead roles takes on a role as the main antagonist.

Behind the camera, director Tian Li, known for Tientsin Mystic, teams up with the visual effects studio behind the Candle in the Tomb franchise. With a big budget and high production values, the drama already looks impressive, so I’m just hoping for solid execution, which will really make or break it. It also stars Zhang Yichi, Tian Xiaojie, Dong Chang, Su Xin, Yan Zhuoling, and more.
