Time Raiders (吴邪私家笔记) fans rejoice! Plans are reportedly underway for Time Raiders 2 (吴邪私家笔记2) as the show, listed as a seasonal format, is among the dramas submitted as new projects. While details remain scarce, it’s expected to feature the same cast, director, and creative team, with Xu Zhenxuan returning as Wu Xie, Cheng Xiang as Zhang Qiling, and Sun Ge Chuan Ye as Wang Pangzi. It’s not clear if supporting roles like Li Muchen’s Ah Ning will also return.
This version of Time Raiders was a pleasant surprise for the long-running Daomu Biji franchise. Though it’s another The Lost Tomb remake with a fresh cast playing familiar roles, it earned praise as one of the better tomb-raiding dramas in recent years. Xu Zhenxuan and Cheng Xiang brought strong chemistry as the new Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling, while Sun Ge Chuan Ye added great comic timing as Wang Pangzi. Veteran Hong Kong actor Francis Ng led the cast as Wu Sanxing.
With Nanpai Sanshu, the author of the novels and producer of the series, overseeing the project, Time Raiders certainly revived interest in the genre. Despite minor controversies over edited terminology and pacing due to censorship, it impressed audiences with its detailed tomb reconstructions and the blend of present-day narrative, memories, and Wu Xie’s journals.
The franchise has proven that Wu Xie’s adventures are far from over, just another page waiting to be written. With Nanpai Sanshu guiding the story, fans are eager to see Time Raiders 2 fill in the unanswered mysteries from the first season.
