EXO’s official social media accounts on Weibo, Instagram, and X just shared a rare moment that sent fans into a frenzy: a backstage photo of Sehun together with Lay Zhang Yixing at his solo concert held at Beijing’s National Stadium on October 6. This also marked Sehun’s first overseas trip since completing his military service in September.
The caption simply read, “Lay (hyeong – older brother), Sehun and WeAreOne EXO” words that reignited memories of EXO. Back in 2012, EXO started with 12 members and as some left, Zhang Yixing was the last Chinese idol remaining before he also stopped activities with the group. Dressed in a purple jacket, which is also Lay’s official fan color, Sehun’s arrival in China on the eve of the show had already drawn attention. He was later spotted in the VIP section, watching the concert. During the show, Lay performed EXO’s classic song “Miracles in December” and told the crowd, “There’s a special guest here tonight. This song is for him.”
After the concert, the two reportedly had dinner together to celebrate Lay’s birthday. Beyond sentiment, the official release of the photo carried deeper implications. In 2019, Lay ended up deleting a similar photo with Sehun due to fan disputes. This time, the decision to share it is certainly a meaningful gesture.
