This year’s Miss Hong Kong crown goes to Stacey Chan who ranked number one in the pageant held last weekend. As for her “royal court”, Angela Stanton and Jane Yuan were named the first and second runner-up respectively. Victoria Lee, who many expected would go home with the Miss HK title didn’t quite make it to the top three unfortunately. But the crowd favourite didn’t leave empty handed as she took home both the Miss Friendship and Miss Photogenic awards. Whilst some of the judge’s decisions were controversial, it was Victoria’s mum Anni’s reaction that unexpectedly drew flak online.
“The 2025 Miss Hong Kong Pageant officially concluded last night, and the results have been announced. Whilst there have been many angry comments online, we respect the organizer’s decision regardless of the outcome. Things happened for the best. However, since last night up till to today, there have been so many cries of support online for my daughter. I would like to thank everyone, I’m so very grateful! My daughter still has a lot of room for improvement! Grateful for everyone’s love and admiration (爱戴)!”
Who knew though that some Netizens took exception to Anni’s choice of words. Netizens claim her use of ‘love and admiration’ 爱戴 was inappropriate and that it showed her low EQ and lack of awareness. “It’s better not to have said the last sentence.” Another commenter pointed out Anni really doesn’t know how to use her words to communicate. These led to Anni later deleting the post all together to avoid negative comments about her daughter.
Li Anni is a familiar face in the showbiz circle. Besides being a good friend and the manager of Candy Law, she’s also quite close to Hong Kong martial arts actor Chin Siu-ho, actor Wilson Tsui and Kingdom Yuen King-tan. Meanwhile her daughter Victoria studied music at Cheltenham College in the UK and is quite proficient with the piano, harp and even Chinese opera.
