Lee Soo-hyuk’s recent fan meet in Hangzhou left much to be desired after overcrowding and poor logistics made the entire fan experience unpleasant. After complaints that the event was poorly managed which the star managed to power through, what made fans extra furious were the reports that the star was allegedly forced by the event organisers to continue signing 500 extra posters post- event. In a now viral clip on Xiaohongshu, a tired Lee Soo-hyuk can be seen seemingly staying up to 2AM to finish autographing posters.

This being his first fan event since moving from YG to Saram Enterainment, angry fans criticised the agency for dropping the ball and failing to take care of their talent. In addition, they also demanded an apology from event organisers. Meanwhile, in a bid to quell further rumours, Saram released a statement today to clarify the situation, emphasising that it was the actor’s decision to extend the event so that he could spend more time with his fans.

“A Special Occasion to Meet His Fans in Person Again After 10 Years”

In their statement, Saram Entertainment clarified that Lee Soo-hyuk himself wanted to be part of the entire event planning process. It has been a decade since he last had the opportunity to meet his Chinese fans face to face so he wanted to make it special.

Because the volume of people who turned up for the event was higher than expected, they said the main event had to be delayed. They did say though that they constantly checked in with the actor and his team to make sure they were okay. “Lee Soo-hyuk repeatedly confirmed ‘it’s a rare opportunity to meet with fans and I want to give it my all’. This sincerity resulted with the actor spending more time with his fans than planned.”

As far as fan meets go, that’s quite a baptism by fire for the Saram team seeing that it’s their first fan meet with the actor. Nonetheless they promised to be more attentive to their artists and will make every effort to prepare better to ensure fan events will be worry free for both artists and their fans both at home and overseas in the future.
