South Korean singer and TV personality Kim Jong-kook has stunned fans with an unexpected announcement—he’s getting married. The 49-year-old Running Man star shared the news on August 18, which coincides with his 30th anniversary in the entertainment industry.
According to his agency, the wedding will be held in Seoul in a private ceremony, attended only by family and close friends. The bride’s identity has not been disclosed. Kim Jong-kook also reportedly broke during the filming of SBS’s popular variety show Running Man, where he has been a longtime cast member. Korean media outlet Xportsnews reported that he personally revealed the news to his fellow cast members during the shoot, which is expected to air in an upcoming episode.
Although known to be single, Kim Joong-kook has been fondly shipped in the past to actresses Yoon Eun-hye and Running Man co-star Song Ji-hyo, which was even shot down at one point as Song Ji-hyo once joked that her ideal type is the exact opposite.
Earlier this year, he revealed on-air that he had purchased a new home for 6.2 billion won (approximately USD 4.5 million), sparking speculation that he was preparing for a new chapter in life.
