Veteran Hong Kong actor Jackie Lui Chung Yin is finally home after a severe bout of bacterial infection in his lungs saw him going in and out of hospital for treatment. According to his wife, actress Mak King Ting, the 59-year-old’s condition was considered by doctors as rare and serious requiring multiple visits to the ER. At one point, she said his condition was so severe he had to be admitted to the ICU. In total, Jackie Lui lost an alarming 18 kilograms in the two weeks he was in hospital.
Mak King-ting further explained that her husband had no obvious symptoms at the beginning. It wasn’t until he fell ill and had to be hospitalised that they realised the infection had spread to multiple organs. Moreover, she said they suspect his condition arose from a weakened immune system with all the stress and late nights that came with producing dramas. Thankfully, the actor is finally on the mend and ready to start rehab training back home. With his active lifestyle, his body is fortunately in good physical condition to overcome the infection.
Reborn from the Ashes

Meanwhile, Jackie reposted his wife’s update with a message of gratitude to everyone. “Thank you everyone for your concern. To be honest, I was unconscious the entire time and didn’t feel anything. I apologise to the people around me who were worried and sad. This time I truly experienced what it means to be reborn.” The actor also used the opportunity to remind everyone to prioritise their health as it is the people around you and those who love you that end up suffering the most.
59-year-old Jackie Lui is best known for his portrayal of Ling Wu Chung (令狐沖) in the 1996 Hong Kong adaptation of Louis Cha’s novel The Smiling Proud Wanderer titled State of Divinity. In recent years, the actor turned entrepreneur has set his sights on opening vegetarian restaurants in China with seven branches already in operation.

he’s still involved with dramas? I haven’t seen him in anything in forever. this guy will forever be inked as the father who abandoned his kid.
Alexis
I think you mistaken him for Max Mok, the guy who abandoned his son with actress Catherine Hung. Jackie Lui is a great actor and an outstanding human being. He and his wife never had any kids. They mostly devote their extra time on charitable works.

Jackie Lui and his wife never had any kids. Either you’re mistaken him for Jackie Chan or Max Mok.
Cyndee
It’s Max Mok, not Jackie Lui that abandoned his kid.
