Zhao Wei’s Brother Breaks Silence on Vicious Rumours Against the Actress

Since August 2021, Chinese actress Vicki Zhao Wei suddenly disappeared from the public eye, finding herself on the government blacklist. While reasons were never disclosed, it seems the actress’ withdrawal from the public has been anything but quiet. In a long winded post, Zhao Wei’s brother Kent Zhao Jian angrily revealed his sister has been the subject of online bullying for years, and that after years of tolerating the abuse, their family has finally had enough. They’ve officially filed a lawsuit against the masterminds behind the malicious slander, one of which turned out to be a lawyer who just wanted to “hype up traffic and attract business!”

Amongst the rumours against the 49-year-old actress, it’s the whispers of Zhao Wei and her ex-husband Huang Youlong’s alleged involvement in the Thailand-Myanmar human trafficking ring that was most damaging. Supposedly, the two exes had invested in the operation through his cousin who moved to Myanmar and was later arrested for scamming hundreds of thousands of victims. Other sources claimed the couple was directly involved as they themselves managed the illegal ring.

We Will No Longer Be Silent

In a lengthy post, Kent Zhao said after years of choosing to ignore the slander against his sister, their family is finally fighting back. “Because we firmly believed that intelligent people won’t spread such rumours, we’ve always chosen to ignore them. But keeping silent and ignoring them seems like we’re indulging the slanderers.”

The fact of the matter is, the endless stream of malicious rumours against Zhao Wei and their family have gotten so bad even their mum is losing sleep from all the slander that has become even more sensational, far-fetched and extremely vicious. Not only has it resulted in immeasurably damaging Zhao Wei’s reputation, it also put her under immense psychological trauma.

Enough was enough he said, and their family will no longer remain silent against the slander. Kent shares they’ve officially filed a suit against the individuals and accounts who either published faked content or those that continue to spew insults and attack his sister. Amongst those that he mentioned, he particularly expressed his disappointment after police investigation determined one of the offenders was a practicing lawyer who confessed he deliberately “fabricated and spread rumours to just attract attention and expand his business”. There’s also the “ghost-like” online accounts that sensationalise and use fake news as click bait to attract traffic.
