A few years ago, Hong Kong boyband Mirror made headlines after a tragic concert accident — but it’s member Lokman who’s now facing controversy. His latest single ‘FLY’ sparked backlash almost as soon as the cover image dropped. The reason? Netizens say its design resembles the 2022 stage setup that left backup dancer Li Qiyan (Ah Mo) paralyzed.

Said poster shared on Lokman’s official Instagram on July 21st showed the Mirror captain singlehandedly holding up a glowing giant screen with the title FLY in the background. Unfortunately however, with the 2022 accident still fresh on people’s minds, it seems some felt the poster was done in poor taste. Netizens said the visual – the way LED board was positioned and even its appearance, was reminiscent of the giant screen that was originally suspended from the ceiling that suddenly fell and injured Ah Mo and another dancer in the process.

Whilst the design definitely triggered criticism amongst Hong Kong Netizens, other fans stepped up to defend Lokman. They said Lokman most likely didn’t have any malicious intentions and that people just misunderstood the design which was meant to showcase creativity. However, to nip the issue in the bud, the MIRROR team immediately pulled the original poster and replaced it with a tweaked version showing Lokman standing on a flat LED stage instead.
