
It’s a sad day for the Korean entertainment industry who just lost a good one in veteran actor Choi Jung-woo. A representative from his agency confirmed today the news of his passing at the age of 68 although the specific cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
With his nuanced performances playing complex authority figures, Choi Jung-woo has made a name for himself as a versatile actor who consistently delivers a powerful and multilayered performance. Legions of kdrama lovers grew up watching the seasoned actor in many well-known Korean dramas such as Master’s Sun, Prosecutor Princess, Legend of the Blue Sea and City Hunter where he left a deep impression amongst fans as the corrupt and ruthless businessman Chun Jae-man.
Born in 1957, the showbiz veteran made his debut in 1975 through the play The Life of an Actor allowing audiences a unique glimpse into the world of theatre and the challenges actors faced.
The characters he had created on-screen will always remain in our hearts. He will surely be missed.
