Is Mandopop diva Jolin Tsai back together with actor Eddie Peng? In 2006, Jolin’s dad accidentally spilled the beans that indirectly confirmed the “open secret” that Jolin and Eddie were dating. At the time, it was speculated that the pair have already been dating for three years. Though they eventually broke up allegedly due to opposition from Eddie’s mum and his agency, there’s new speculation online that the pair have secretly rekindled their romance and have in fact been quietly dating for six years already.
Digging Up ‘Proof’
Although the pair claim they are just good friends, Netizens have been working overtime to dig up old deets to connect the dots and prove otherwise. Amongst these were claims Jolin’s Valentine’s eve post in 2019 and photos shared by Eddie at what appears to be the same restaurant suggests they were out on a date together.
In her Vday’s eve selfie, Jolin was holding up an orange rose with the hashtag #mylove and #happyvalentinesday at an by-invite only restaurant. Coincidentally, Eddie had shared a photo with the restaurant owner just two days before Jolin shared her selfie .. with the same orange roses in hand. Later, the same orange roses were spotted inside her purse and which she later took out during a media interview where she was asked about her relationship status. “Even if I have one, I won’t tell you, okay?” she coyly answered.
Then when Jolin shared snaps from her trip to Portree in the Scottish highlands in October last year which she described as “a healing journey, I loved it”, Netizens were doubly intrigued when Eddie’s film Black Dog with Tong Liya was also screened in this small town with 1900 residents. Is it another coincidence? When the topic trended on social media, fans of both stars were pretty chuffed with the news and expressed their hopes that the pair have rekindled their romance for real.
Update: On June 3, Eddie Peng studio released a statement to shut down the rumors.
