Xu Ruohan is certainly no damsel in distress in the upcoming costume historical Yi Zhen Chun Hua一枕春华 with Daniel Zhou Keyu. Her character Feng Jiajiao in fact, is the one doing the rescuing as she saves Sheng Lin Zhi’s (Zhou Keyu) bacon in the series. Whilst little of the plot is known at this point – it looks like it’s an original script not based on an existing novel or story, what little information shared indicates the plot features a female girl boss saving a male version of Cinderella in a love story that crosses class boundaries.
Xu Ruohan recently stole viewers hearts through her pairing with Zhang Linghe in The Best Thing. This time around, she’s back playing a spunky business woman named Feng Jiaojiao who rescues her love interest. The 27-year-old actress earns her first top billing in a costume historical drama with this role. Meanwhile, Yi Zhen Chun Hua marks co-star Zhou Keyu’s first historical playing the male lead role. Considering he only began acting in dramas in 2021 with Remember My Boy, that’s quite an accomplishment for the 22-year-old idol turned actor who’s only had a few acting projects under his belt. Zhou Keyu was most recently in the series A Moment But Forever, playing the supporting role of Xia Qian Lin in the xianxia drama.
Filming has already wrapped for the show recently so I reckon we’ll be seeing more promotional bits from the production from here on out.
