The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree as far as Taiwanese TV host slash multi-hyphenate Jacky Wu and his daughter Sandy goes. Following in the footsteps of her famous father, Sandy Wu recently stepped in as temporary co-host for Dee Hsu’s show Dee Girls Talk whilst she’s on temporary hiatus after her sister’s passing. To give her a warm welcome and ensure things were off to a comfortable start for her very first episode as host, the series also invited Sandy’s famous younger sibling LucyPIE as a guest. With the two Wu siblings on board, the topic naturally veered towards their dad Jacky who’s already an established household name in Taiwan. Unexpectedly, Sandy revealed that there are times when she wishes her dad was just a regular person doing normal things.
“If Possible, I Don’t Want to Be Jacky Wu’s Daughter”
Things got a bit sticky when co-host Patrick asked Sandy if she had a choice to redo things all over again and had a choice, would she still want to be Jacky Wu’s daughter. She said if it’s possible, she didn’t want to. “Whose daughter do you want to be?” At this point, Sandy was beginning to get choked up a little and even asked if the part can be cut. “I almost said ‘anyone’ ” she tearfully confessed. Sandy quickly explained that she wished that her dad Jacky can just be an ordinary father and do normal things like taking her to school for example.
Whereas it’s easy for anyone to judge her for her comments and take things out of context, the situation may be different for anyone growing up and living under the shadow of their famous parents or siblings. With all the craziness attached to fame, it’s understandable how some might crave living a more normal life outside the craziness of show business.
