The 42-year-old actress revealed that she started writing her will early due to the unpredictable nature of her job. In the past, she said that performing wire stunts for action scenes, which was so common in costume dramas, would lift her in the air up to four or five stories high at times. With only the strength of the wirework masters to rely on, it made her keenly aware that accidents could happen at any time. She thought, “This won’t do, there are so many things I haven’t said and entrusted.”
At first, she thought of it as a simple division of assets. She said it’s now evolved into something far more meaningful—which she calls an “allocation of love.” Ariel Lin sees her will as a heartfelt message to loved ones. It could include her assistant, her parents, her in-laws, her spouse, her child, her friends, and her fans. She hopes to leave behind not just words but add photos and videos, maybe a USB.
For Ariel Lin, thinking about death is not a morbid exercise but a way to stay mindful of life’s impermanence. She emphasized that it serves as a reminder: “There’s no redo in life. If there’s something you want to do, don’t wait.”
