“Congratulations are in order for Taiwanese star Gemma Wu, better known as Gui Gui, who just welcomed her newborn daughter last Thursday, January 9th. Taking to social media and surprising everyone with her happy news, the new mum shared a black and white photo of her pregnant belly and the cutest little toes. “Slowed down my pace, had a good rest, had a good pregnancy, two hearts beating well together. Remembering these moments well, being grateful to myself for having the courage, becoming a braver person. Loving you well, working hard for your future, all for us.” Gemma has quietly stepped out of the limelight these past few months, I guess we now know the reason.
Meanwhile, for those asking about who the father to her baby daughter is, Gemma bluntly said on social media that she’s not married and NOT to ask anymore.
A Worthwhile Endeavour
All the attention to Gemma’s surprise announcement also brought renewed interest to her egg freezing journey which she shared on Youtube a few years ago. At the time, she said she wanted to freeze her eggs at their healthiest. “No matter whom I marry or who I have kids with in the future, I’m assured I froze the healthiest eggs” she said.
In the video, Gemma shared clips of herself visiting the clinic and getting several ultrasounds and receiving jabs to prepare her body for the egg retrieval operation. When the time finally came, a total of 24 eggs were obtained. Post-op, Gemma was quite emotional when she said pregnancy is really hard, and that being a mum to a child is also hard. However for her at least, it was all worthwhile. “Because I realise that as a woman, you go through this journey which is a new experience given to you by the universe.” She added that the most difficult bit for her in the entire process was how she couldn’t exercise.
