This year’s prestigious Le Bal des Debutantes in Paris saw two daughters of famous Chinese celebs Zhang Yimou and Simon Yam making their bows to society. Paris’ Shangri-La Hotel was the place to be as over 20 young women from prominent families around the world made their official high society come outs in gorgeous haute couture gowns and glittering jewelry. With celebs, nobility and even royalty in attendance, this grand fete surely is not one to be missed.
Coming of Age
It was a family affair for Angel Zhang (17) who attended the event with her famous dad, renowned filmmaker Zhang Yimou and her mum Chen Ting. It seems the director who’s rarely seen with his family made an exception to support his daughter’s coming of age party. Angel wore a dark blue Alexis Mabille gown as she walked alongside her brother Daniel who was her partner or cavalier this year.
Meanwhile, Simon Yam and wife supermodel Qi Qi’s daughter Ella also made her high society bow this year. Ella (20) who is now a model just like her mum was wearing a ruffled cerise coloured Giambattista Valli gown with a train. At one point during rehearsals, Simon who was partnering his daughter livened things up a bit as he playfully exchanged dance partners with Zhang Yimou who was partnering daughter Angel.
Meanwhile, other debs with famous celebrity parents include Apple Martin (20) – Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter who was in a gorgeous baby blue strapless Valentino number and Lucia Ponti (18), the granddaughter of the Italian film and beauty icon Sophia Loren who was wearing a strapless Giorgio Armani Prive gown with lace details paired with a exquisite diamond and emerald necklace.
